What will you find under your tree this year? How about SHRIEK: AN AFTERWORD by Jeff VanderMeer, the only book officially approved by the giant tacky Santa head?

Yes, they arrived today. I’ll be spending the weekend numbering books and packing preorders.
By the way, there are still a few days left to enter the contest to win a free copy.

Is that Santa ornament an older one? It looks like a style from some decades ago.

Tacky Santa is something my parents picked up at a garage sale ages ago. It hung in their house every Christmas for over 25 years before they moved and passed it onto me. (My brother and sister think I’m crazy for accepting it.)
We have no idea how old it really is and haven’t been able to discover anything about him. No copyright, no brand, just bolts that look like they came from an Erector set holding two large pieces of molded plastic together. The face is on both sides (same with the lightbulb nose). The original beard had to be replaced about 20 years ago.

I think it’s neat! My grandparents had a really cool light-up Santa head that I remember them putting up in their window every year. My mom doesn’t know what happened to it. FYI, I’ve discovered you can see some really cool vintage decorations from Christmas and Halloween on eBay.

Yeah, Ebay is great for that sort of stuff. Haven’t seen this guy up there yet. We’ve decided to let Santa drive the decoration of that room… it’s just going to get worse every year. 🙂

I just wanted to drop by and thank Neil for being so great during the whole process of putting this limited together. He’s a class act and I really appreciate that.
Cheers,
