Award-Winning Editor of Clarkesworld Magazine, Forever Magazine, The Best Science Fiction of the Year, and More

NOTE: This sale will end at 10PM EST 3/10/2014. More details about why and how to get on a waiting list (if you missed it) can be found here. If the BUY button is gone from this page, the sale is closed.

As many of you know, I ran a bookstore for seven years. When it closed, I was left with a lot of inventory, which I occasionally lug to conventions and try to sell off. At the rate I’m currently going, it could be over a decade before that chore is done and since the heart attack, I’m a lot more reluctant to lug a carload of boxes anywhere.

I’ve decided to tackle the problem in stages, starting with the paperbacks. There are thousands of new/unread mass market paperbacks on these shelves and I’m starting with them.

I’m going to start boxing up lots of thirty new books (no-dups) by genre and selling them off for $30 shipped free via media mail (meaning US only). I’ll start by offering them direct and when that slows, move onto ebay.

All proceeds from the sale of these books will be placed into my special Clarkesworld Magazine issue #100 fund. It’s a big milestone and I feel the need to do something special with that issue.

So, anyone interested in buying some books?

[Sale temporarily over. See above.]

NOTE: Some people are reporting that PayPal is sending them back to Wyrm Publishing at the end. Must be something odd in my PayPal account. (I am Wyrm Publishing.) You can ignore that. The order is complete by the time you get there. I’m also emailing confirmations, so if you don’t hear from me, that’s when you should be concerned.

Book sale update

  1. VERY INTERESTED. But sadly the “Buy Now” link just takes me to my Paypal main screen and not to a specific transaction.

  2. Renee

If you’ve got a YA grouping, I’ll take it!

    • I’ll have to check, but I don’t think we had many YA paperbacks.

      • Renee

ok! Will keep checking back just in case. Still contemplating the fantasy novels though. would love that even more if I could know that plots were middle grade/YA appropriate, even if reading level isn’t. My kids reading levels are through the roof. it’s hard to find books that are at their reading level but still appropriate for their young minds.

        • Renee

Aw hell…. I just can’t resist owning ALL THE BOOKS!!!! Buying the fantasy set now. Would still buy a YA set if you had it.

          • Renee

annnnd…. I’m a sucker and in for the sci fi too. Still up for the YA if you’ve got it.

  3. I think my order went through, but paypal redirected me to a message about my session expiring, so let me know if I need to try again.

  4. Wayne Walls

I hadda do this, since I am addicted to buying books

  5. Hi, Neil,

I just placed an order. I’ll love whatever you send, I imagine, but if you have any short story collections and anthologies, I’m definitely the right person to send those to. 🙂

  6. Hmm. Just ordered the SF bundle, but got a weird notice that my session with Wyrm Publishing could not be reestablished — yet Paypal sent me a receipt. Should I be worried?

  7. Sharron

I just ordered and it took me to Wyrm Publishing…I hope it worked. I ordered horror…I was wondering if you could include appropriate middle school and up books. They’re for my middle school students. I would appreciate it so much 🙂

    • Sharron

Oh no! I just checked my paypal receipt and the address is an old one! How can I change that? Help!

      • Email me at neil at I can change the address on my end. That said, I don’t think I have many, if any middle school-level paperbacks. If that’s a problem, I’d be happy to issue a refund.

        • Sharron

I emailed you. That’s okay…anything without a lot of swearing or sexual situations is fine. Actually I’ll just read them first and use my judgement…thanks 🙂

  8. Neil, if I were to order some books and gave you a mobile library’s address, would you be able to ship it to them? I’m sure they’d appreciate it. Please let me know. Thanks!

    • That’s such a cool idea! Definitely willing to ship to them. Will toss in a few extras too.

      • Im checking with them to see if they’re ok with adult spec-fic (i think they cater to teens mostly). If you have teens/MG/YA or if they give the green signal for adult, it would work out great. I’ll keep you posted. Thanks for this.

        • I never had much YA stock. Didn’t sell well for me and a good chunk of what there was sold off at conventions.

  9. Should you do something similar with mysteries I’d be quite interested.
