Another magazine has adopted my submissions system

When I first developed my online submissions system for Clarkesworld Magazine, I never expected it to take on a life of its own. If you told me that it would eventually be used by Asimov’s, I would have laughed at you… but here we are. Yes, if you haven’t heard, Asimov’s is accepting online submissions and they are the first of the big three to do so. I think this is fantastic.

This has been a long time in the making. Sheila and I first started talking about online submissions at Worldcon. At some point, I have to write up the whole story of secret meetings, demos, coding and the rest. It’s been fun and I’m quite proud to have been a part of this.

By the way, they are running a newer version of the software than anyone else. I’ll be updating other sites as the opportunities arise.

Clarkesworld on the Kindle: First set of back issues

In addition to the current issue of Clarkesworld Magazine, the following 6 months of back issues are now available on the Kindle. I hope to add 2-3 more every few days.

Other ebook formats will be available soon. If you want to make a special plea for your favored format, please leave a comment.

Kindle help… thanks!

I’d like to thank everyone who has been sending us suggestions and comments about the Kindle edition of Clarkesworld Magazine. Your feedback has helped me make a much nicer edition of the magazine for this device. The third revised file is now available through Amazon. If you’ve downloaded the early version, download the new one from them. I’m hoping this version addresses your concerns and has maintained the features you enjoyed. If no one has further suggestions to make, I’ll start prepping other issues (and Realms) for upload into the Kindle store and submitting them as I have time.

Once again, thanks for the quick and very helpful feedback!

2010 Locus Award Finalists

The 2010 Locus Award finalists have been announced and (much to my surprise) Clarkesworld is a finalist in the magazine category! "Spar" by Kij Johnson also made the list in the short story category.

YAY!!

Thanks to everyone that voted for us. It means a lot to me.

Clarkesworld on the Kindle

I’m experimenting with Kindle editions of Clarkesworld Magazine and would like some feedback before I go further with this project. If any of you buy the Kindle edition of Issue 43, would you mind sharing your thoughts with me? Either here or via email (neil@clarkesworldmagazine.com) would be fine.  Thanks!

Clarkesworld and the Hugo Awards

I am thrilled to announce that Clarkesworld Magazine has been nominated for a Hugo Award in the Best Semiprozine category. This is an incredible honor and we are extremely grateful to those of you who supported us in the nomination process. Thank you!

But wait, there’s more good news…

"Spar" by Kij Johnson and "Non-Zero Probabilities" by N. K. Jemisin are nominees in the Best Short Story category. This is Kij’s second BSSH nomination, Nora’s first Hugo nomination and the first time any Clarkesworld stories have been nominated. Congratulations to Kij and Nora!

I’m also very pleased to Lezli Robyn among this year’s nominees for the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer. Lezli’s first published story, "Idle Roomer" (with Mike Resnick), was published in our November 2008 issue. Good luck Lezli!

The full details for the 2010 Hugo Awards and John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer can be found here. Congratulations to all our fellow nominees!
