Clarkesworld Books closes tonight at midnight. I’m disabling the shopping cart and leaving the site as a resource for book dealers who are looking at picking up some of my inventory, but it will be effectively closed for the first time in nearly 8 years… and it’s difficult.
We’ve been receiving a steady stream of orders today from some of our longtime customers and even a few newcomers. I’ve been telling people that if there are books they want, but can’t afford right now, I’ll hold stuff for them. That offer extends to everyone. Any authors who want to pick up copies of their books at a good price are encouraged to drop me a line. I’m sure I can work something out for you.
There is a lot of inventory left and that will be sold off to dealers, placed on ebay, or sold at conventions. I’m also keeping my Clarkesworld yahoo group/mailing list going for now. I’m finding all sorts of things as I clear out boxes and will post special offers and interesting finds there from time to time. It’s just not going to be the same though.
Over the years I’ve had some crazy requests for photos of the store. I haven’t bothered until today, so in honor of the last day of Clarkesworld Books, I present to you:
I’m in shock. Clarkesworld Magazine is the SciFi.com Site of the Week.
Couldn’t happen at a better time. I’ve been a bit down about the bookstore finally closing this Friday. Nicely timed for the next issue too!

My boys and I like to watch “giant monster flattens city” movies. When I saw Chen Lin’s “Big Octopus”, I knew I just had to have it. Now it will be the cover for issue #12 of Clarkesworld Magazine. |

Realms is now up for preorder on Amazon.
Before anyone asks, it says Wildside is the publisher. Ignore that. It’s Wyrm. Wildside is helping us with distribution on this book. |
Rumor has it that Clarkesworld Magazine is now an official SFWA qualifying market. It doesn’t appear that they’ve updated the list on their website yet, but people keep telling me we are….
