My Brother’s Wedding

If you haven’t heard much from me lately, it’s because of my brother’s wedding last Friday. It couldn’t have been a better day. The weather was amazing (especially for November) and everything went off without a hitch. My two sons were the ring bearers and despite running down the aisle during all the rehearsals, they were perfect when the time came. Great ceremony and a reception that we wish could have gone on for days. The boys spent most of the night dancing and I managed to get through my toast with a minor degree of discomfort.

Don’t these look like some happy people?

Clarkesworld Bestsellers for the Week Ending Nov. 5, 2006

Books
1Soldier of Sidon by Gene Wolfe (Hardcover)
2Forest Mage (Soldier Son Trilogy, Book 2) by Robin Hobb (Signed Hardcover)
3The Orphan’s Tales: In the Night Garden by Catherynne M. Valente (Signed Trade Paperback)
4Wings to the Kingdom by Cherie Priest (Trade Paperback)
5Seeker by Jack McDevitt (Paperback)

Magazines
1Fantasy Magazine
2Fantasy & Science Fiction
3Analog
4Asimov’s
5H.P. Lovecraft’s Magazine of Horror

A lot of turnover from last week’s list. The Orphan’s Tales made a strong showing at number three, despite a number of preorders waiting on the signed copies. (Those copies won’t count in the bestseller list until they ship.)

I’m willing to bet that Blindsight by Peter Watts would have made the list this week, but as I mentioned before, we sold all our copies. The good news is that it’s back in stock! I’ve been told that this book had an initial print run of about 5000 copies. Do yourself a favor and pick it up before it’s gone.

BitterCon Report

BitterCon was a smashing success by all standards. Heck, the Friday night parties were so good, LJ couldn’t get up the next day. Despite this, we still find some bitterness out there as WFC’ers return and post photos, con reports, and generally remind us of what we missed.

In response, I have pulled together a small photo gallery of BitterCon ’06…

This makes my day…

I’ve just received confirmation that Caitlin R. Kiernan (greygirlbeast) has agreed to write a story for the January issue of Clarkesworld Magazine.  YAY!

Preorders for the chapbook of that issue are still a couple of months off, but subscriptions are available now and would include this issue.  If you want to be notified when we start taking orders for that chapbook, keep an eye here or subscribe to our mailing list
