This list is based on books shipped from Clarkesworld Books between January 1st, 2005 and December 31st, 2005. Magazines sales include back issue sales, which actually make up the majority of the numbers sold.

Night of Knives and Fantasy & Science Fiction Magazine were runaway winners in their categories. NoK’s place is impressive. It’s a limited edition UK import and our sales account for over 20% of the print run. NoK is a story set in the Malaz world commonly featured in Steven Erikson’s books. Not surprisingly, Steven was our bestselling author with three titles in the top ten. Horror author, Brian Keene took 2nd place with two titles in the top ten and several in the top 20.

Authors that just missed the top ten include: Thomas Ligotti, Charles de Lint, Terry Goodkind, Robin Hobb, John Crowley, and Connie Willis. There were no ties in the top ten, but several in the top twenty.

As I continue to go through the numbers, I may post some more stats… assuming people are interested in any of this. 🙂

Joshua Palmatier’s The Skewed Throne – Contest Reminder

The Skewed Throne Contest

Joshua (jpsorrow) Palmatier’s new fantasy novel, The Skewed Throne, will be published by Daw in just a few weeks. I’ve received an ARC that I plan to read this week and you can check out the first chapter on his website.

We’re taking preorders for first edition signed copies and one customer who preorders before Midnight on December 31st, 2005 will receive their copy for free. Along with the book, they’ll receive a special prize from Joshua.

The weapon of choice for the Assassins in The Skewed Throne is a dagger. Joshua will choose one of these dagger pens as an additional prize for our winner. (He hasn’t decided which pen yet.)

Business slowed down this week as people began to realize that there was no way USPS was going to deliver packages in time. (Is it just me or were they worse this year?) This gave me some time for some Christmas shopping, preparing the house for visitors, and going to the other job’s holiday party.

In the last 24-48 hours I’ve received a lot of new titles that had a decent number of preorders. Most won’t ship until next week because of the holiday, so next weeks numbers are expected to be low too. Those that just arrived include, Song of Kali (Simmons, limited edition), Frog Toes and Tentacles (Kiernan, trade and limited), Night of the Daemon (Shannon, limited), Bronze (Reed, trade and limited). I also received the hardcover edition of Subterranean Magazine with the limited edition Thomas Ligotti chapbook. I’ll definitely be busy next week.

Last week’s #1, TEL: Stories, fell completely off the chart this week, but with very good reason. We sold all our copies that week. The new shipment arrived today, so it’s back in stock and ready to ship.

Finishing in the top ten was Wandering Flesh by John Hubbard and Ron Shiflet. Congratulations guys! At present, we’re the only place you can buy this chapbook. It’s our first exclusive and with any luck, it won’t be our last.
